Informatica Basics

Informatica is an ETL tool mostly used in Data Integration and Data warehouse enviornment.
It is supported on different environments like Windows, Unix, Mainframes etc.
Current version in Market is 9.1.5. 
It has different Tools:

1)       Designer

2)       Workflow Manager

3)       Workflow Monitor

4)       Repository Manger

5)       Metadata Reporter

Etc..,

In informatica the information about the transformations, source systems and target systems are stored in the informatica repository
Informatica server runs as service called PowerCenter server.
Informatica maintains all its metadata in repository (RDBMS based).
